Simon Hartmann


Simon Hartmann started to play the double bass at the age of seven. After several prizes at youth competitions like “Jugend musiziert”, he became a student of Božo Paradžik in Freiburg when he was just 14 years old. In the same year he got a scholarship from the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”. At the moment he is studying with Janne Saksala in Berlin.

Since 2013 he plays in the Munich Chamber Orchestra and as a substitute in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Simon Hartmann played as a soloist with orchestras like Baden-Badener Philharmoniker, Oberschwäbisches Kammerorchester, Freiburger Studentenorchester and Junges Kammerorchester Stuttgart. He takes part in chamber music festivals in Luzern, Esslingen and Berlin.

Simon Hartmann is also interested in different ways of playing the double bass, therefore he plays the barock bass in many different ensembles. Apart from that he also works together with contemporary composers like Elmar Lampson and Marshall McDaniel and is part of the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, an experimental ensemble for contemporary music in Berlin.
